An easy way for kids to understand and manage their money.
Climber in a Canyon

Financial Learning for Kids with Parent Supervision.

We’re excited to introduce our SBSU Kids app where you can help teach your kids to manage real money in real time. With parents serving as a safety net, children learn to be accountable for the money they receive and the way they use it. Parents monitor their child’s financial decisions, set limits, and contribute to their financial success by setting healthy parameters.

What is the SBSU Kids app?

SBSU Kids is a hands-on money management platform for kids and teens. It helps to teach them how to save†, donate†, spend and invest** real money they earn or given.

Why is the SBSU Kids app important to use?

At a time when the majority of high school graduates don’t receive the proper education on how to manage money, the SBSU Kids app helps to supplement what students have learned by providing real-life financial situations and decision making. Think of it as “Practice Makes Perfect”.

Is there a cost to enroll in the app?

The State Bank of Southern Utah is proud to offer the SBSU Kids app free of charge. This is an opportunity to educate the next generation with a hands-on app that is both engaging and educational.

Is there a cost to transfer money to a child from a parent?

Can I enroll more than one child?

The SBSU Kids app is designed for children 5-17 years old and each family can enroll up to 5 children on one account. Each child, at least 5 years old, is eligible to receive a State Bank of Southern Utah Kids program branded BusyKid Visa® Prepaid Card which can be used to make purchases in stores or online.

Is the SBSU Kids app safe?

SBSU Kids app accounts are FDIC*-insured up to $250,000. Parents can get real-time account transaction notifications and can follow all activities through the app.

Are parents still involved?

Yes. The SBSU Kids app is designed for kids and teens to experience what it’s like to earn and manage their own money. However, parents are still involved in any money transactions inside the app and must provide approval before funds can be used outside the platform for spending, donating or investing. Plus parents can see all transactions inside the app activity feed and receive necessary notifications.
